In 2014, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa re-aligned development priorities to provide social services, with health and education as top priorities. In the report titled Integrated Development Strategy for 2014–2018, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa announced its intention to construct more hydropower projects and actively promotes private sector investments. The strategy focuses on the electrification and development of remote and rural areas and, apart from initiatives in the energy sector, provision of better education, health services, and economic growth that is inclusive and pro-poor. Access to reliable electricity plays an essential role to achieve these goals.
